At least five people were killed and more than a dozen wounded in Israeli ground and air attacks across Gaza, according to Al Jazeera’s report citing medical sources, first responders and hospitals.

Four Palestinians, including seven-year-old Jouri al-Soufi, were killed in an air attack on a camp for displaced people in the al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis, southern Gaza. Nasser Hospital confirmed the deaths, while Gaza’s emergency services said the number later rose from three to at least four. Al-Shifa Hospital said another man was killed when an Israeli drone struck displaced people sheltering in a tent in the Remal neighbourhood west of Gaza City.

Mahmoud Basal, a spokesperson for the Palestinian Civil Defence, said earlier that Israeli fire and air strikes had killed 11 people and wounded 50 across Gaza over the previous 24 hours. The report also said Israeli forces set fire to a camp at the Shujayea junction on Sunday night, displacing more than 200 families, or over 800 people, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing.

Al Jazeera reported that Gaza medical sources put the overall death toll from Israel’s war at 74,555 and the number wounded at 175,727 as of Monday. The same report said 1,559 people had been killed and 5,608 wounded since a United States-brokered ceasefire declared on October 11 last year, while many victims remained unreachable under rubble or in the streets.

The scale of the reported toll remains contested politically, but an earlier Al Jazeera analysis of peer-reviewed research said independent studies found Gaza Health Ministry administrative figures to be a conservative floor rather than an overcount. One Lancet Global Health study estimated 75,200 violent deaths between October 7, 2023, and January 5, 2025, based on household interviews.
